Any given anti depressant tend to help only a third of patients. Now a new DNA test may be able to predict what medication will be most affective based on gene variants. But will it work?
Now, this particular test is called "GeneSightRx" where they take variants from five genes and is able to pick which anti depressant to give to that patient. Over 12,000 people has already used this test at the Mayo Clinic of Cincinnati and out of one of them says that it has reduced his dose of anti depressants. Now enable for this to be used nation wide this will need more research etc. What do you think about this idea and do you think it could help with the depression meds?
